What is the best way to visit the Chianti from Florence?

  • Organised wine-tasting tour: the easiest option. Departure from Florence, 2-3 wineries with tastings, often lunch included, and nobody has to drive.
  • Rental car: total freedom, but the driver must limit tastings. Pick the car up outside the ZTL.
  • Bus: some regional lines link Florence with the main villages such as Greve, but services are infrequent.
  • Bike or e-bike: guided tours for active travellers, with challenging hills.

  • Greve in Chianti: arcaded square and wine shops.
  • Panzano in Chianti: famous butchers and views over the “Conca d’Oro”.
