How many apartments do you manage in Florence?
We manage three independent apartments in Florence’s historic centre: L&D 51 Suites, Suite Mariasole and Suite Piccolo Principe, all around Piazza Ognissanti and Santa Maria Novella.
How many guests can L&D 51 Suites sleep?
L&D 51 Suites sleeps up to 6 guests, with 2 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with walk-in showers, a living room and an eat-in kitchen.
How many guests can Suite Mariasole sleep?
Suite Mariasole is a studio for up to 2 guests, with sleeping, living and kitchen areas in one room and a bathroom with a large walk-in shower.
How many guests can Suite Piccolo Principe sleep?
Suite Piccolo Principe sleeps up to 4: one bedroom plus a living room with a double sofa bed, a small separate kitchen and a bathroom with a window.
Which apartment is best for a family?
L&D 51 Suites is the largest: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an eat-in kitchen, ideal for families or small groups of up to 6.
Which apartment is best for a couple?
Suite Mariasole is perfect for couples: a bright studio in a 14th-century palazzo with an original coffered wooden ceiling.
Are the apartments quiet?
Yes. All three face inner courtyards or quiet streets while being right in the centre.
What kind of buildings are the apartments in?
Historic Florentine palazzi: L&D 51 Suites in a 19th-century building with pietra serena stairs, Suite Mariasole in a 14th-century palazzo and Suite Piccolo Principe in a 19th-century palazzo with frescoed ceilings.
Is Suite Mariasole really in the building where Botticelli was born?
According to tradition, yes: the coat of arms on the façade tells the building’s story, and Sandro Botticelli is said to have been born there.
Do the apartments have a kitchen?
Yes, all of them have an equipped kitchen with a fridge; L&D 51 Suites and Suite Mariasole have induction hobs.

No. In Florence the tourist tax for apartments is €6 per person per night (2026 rate), up to 7 nights, paid separately.
Do children pay the tourist tax?
No, children under 12 are exempt from the Florence tourist tax.
Can a group book more than one apartment?

At Luggage Storage Hub, our automated locker service at Via Palazzuolo 170, near the station and the apartments: open every day from 7am to 11pm, with access via your personal code.
When do I receive check-in instructions?
Self check-in instructions are sent before your arrival.
Do I need to provide ID?
Yes, Italian law requires registering the ID documents of all guests; we explain how before you arrive.
Can I contact the host during my stay?

5 to 8 minutes on foot: about 5 minutes for L&D 51 Suites, 5-6 for Suite Mariasole and 7-8 for Suite Piccolo Principe.

Is the Piazza Ognissanti area safe?
Yes, it is central, residential and elegant, and quieter than the streets around the Duomo and the station.

Are there supermarkets nearby?

Yes, all the main sights in the centre are 5-20 minutes away on foot.

How do I get here from Florence airport?
Take the T2 tram from outside the terminal to the Santa Maria Novella area in about 20 minutes, or a taxi in about 20 minutes.
How much is a tram ticket in Florence?
Since 1 August 2026 a standard bus and tram ticket costs €2 and is valid for 90 minutes.
How do I get here from Pisa airport?
Take the direct shuttle bus to Florence Santa Maria Novella, or the People Mover to Pisa Centrale and then a regional train.
How do I get here by train?
Get off at Firenze Santa Maria Novella: the apartments are 5-8 minutes away on foot.
Can I arrive by car?
Yes, but the historic centre is a ZTL. We recommend parking in a garage such as Garage Europa at Borgo Ognissanti 29.
Where can I park near the apartments?
The most convenient garage is Garage Europa, Borgo Ognissanti 29, one minute away. There are also car parks around the station and at Fortezza da Basso.
What is the Florence ZTL?
It’s the camera-controlled limited traffic zone of the historic centre: active 7:30am-8pm on weekdays and 7:30am-4pm on Saturdays.
Is there a night ZTL?
Yes, from April to October the night ZTL is active on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 3am.
Is there a fixed taxi fare from the airport?
Yes, there is a fixed fare from Florence airport to the historic centre; check the current amount with the driver before setting off.
Do I need a car to visit Florence?
No, the city is best seen on foot. A car is only useful for Tuscany day trips — rent one just for those days.

Suite Mariasole welcomes pets. For the other apartments, please message us before booking.
Are the apartments suitable for children?
Yes, especially L&D 51 Suites, whose 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms make it ideal for families.
Do you have a travel cot or high chair?

Is Florence good for kids?
Yes: the centre is largely pedestrian and there are gardens like Boboli and Cascine Park, great views and artisan gelato.
What can kids do in Florence?

How many days do you need in Florence?
Two days cover the highlights; with 3-4 days you can enjoy the museums calmly and take a Tuscany day trip.
What to see in Florence in 2 days?
Day 1: Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Day 2: Oltrarno, Pitti Palace, Boboli, Santa Croce and Piazzale Michelangelo.
Do I need to book the Uffizi?
Booking online is strongly recommended to avoid long queues, especially in high season.
Where is Michelangelo’s David?
The original is in the Accademia Gallery, a few minutes from the Mercato Centrale. A copy stands in Piazza della Signoria.
Can you climb Brunelleschi’s Dome?
Yes, but you must book a time slot in advance. There are many steps and no lift.
What is the best viewpoint in Florence?
Piazzale Michelangelo, especially at sunset; San Miniato al Monte is just above it.
Where is Botticelli buried?
In Ognissanti Church on Piazza Ognissanti, a short walk from our apartments.
What is the Ognissanti Last Supper?
The former refectory next to the church at Borgo Ognissanti 42, with Domenico Ghirlandaio’s Last Supper painted around 1480. Opening hours are limited, so check before visiting.
What is the Santa Maria Novella pharmacy?
The historic pharmacy of the Dominican friars, opened to the public in 1612, at Via della Scala 16. Entry to the shop and historic rooms is free.
When is the Cascine market?
Every Tuesday morning in Cascine Park, until around lunchtime.
Living Florence
When is the best time to visit Florence?
Spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October) are mild; summer is hot and busy, winter quieter.
Is Florence very hot in summer?
Yes, July and August are often very hot: the air conditioning in our apartments makes a real difference.
Where can I eat bistecca alla fiorentina?
In traditional trattorias in the centre and the Oltrarno; it is priced by weight and served rare.
What is the Mercato Centrale?
The covered San Lorenzo market, with food stalls on the ground floor and a street-food hall upstairs.
Which typical dishes should I try in Florence?
Ribollita, pappa al pomodoro, lampredotto, bistecca alla fiorentina, schiacciata and cantucci with vin santo.
What souvenirs should I buy in Florence?
Handmade leather goods, marbled paper, perfumes from the Santa Maria Novella pharmacy and Tuscan food products.

Almost everywhere, but carry some cash for markets and small shops.

By city bus from the centre: it soon climbs to the hill with a lovely view over Florence.
Can I visit the Chianti without a car?
Yes, with organised wine-tasting tours departing from Florence.
Should I rent a car for day trips?
Yes, just for those days: pick it up and drop it off outside the ZTL to avoid fines.
Can I reach Lucca from Florence?
Yes, by regional train from Santa Maria Novella.
Can I go to the beach from Florence?
Yes, the Tuscan coast (for example Viareggio) is an easy day trip by train or car.
