Florence tourist tax 2026: how much it costs in apartments and who is exempt

Quick answer

In Florence the 2026 tourist tax for apartments and holiday rentals is €6 per person per night, for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. Children under 12 are exempt. It is not included in booking-platform prices and is paid directly to your host.

When you book an apartment in Florence, there is one more item to budget for besides the rental price: the city tourist tax. Here’s how much it is, who pays it and how it works in our apartments.

How much is the Florence tourist tax in 2026?

For holiday rentals and apartments the 2026 rate is €6 per person per night. In hotels it depends on the star rating. Rates are set by the City of Florence and may change: the official city website always prevails.

How many nights do you pay?

You pay for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights. Stay 10 nights and you only pay for the first 7.

Who is exempt from the Florence tourist tax?

  • Children and young people under 12.
  • People with severe disabilities and one companion.
  • Other categories in the city regulations (for example some medical-treatment cases): ask your host if you think you qualify.

Example

A family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 14 staying 4 nights pays for 3 people (the 8-year-old is exempt): 3 × €6 × 4 nights = €72.
